Vol. 532 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Paul McGrath

Question:

350 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to a serious drainage problem at a national school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; if a detailed report on this problem has been forwarded to his Department; the progress which has been made on this report; and when finances will be made available to have this problem eliminated. [6483/01]

Matters of the nature described by the Deputy are best dealt with at local level in the first instance. The management authorities of the school referred to have been advised to appoint a consulting engineer to advise them on the necessary measures to be taken. Funding will be made available to the school for the work if it is outside the scope of the devolved scheme of minor works to national school properties.
