Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

647 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of primary and secondary permanent posts allocated by his Department to a special needs school (details supplied) in Dublin 12; and the number of these positions which are currently filled. [7825/01]

The school in question is a special school for pupils with a mild general learning disability.

The school has a current staffing allocation of a principal teacher and 21 class teacher posts. Two of the posts are currently allocated on a temporary basis.

Of the 21 teacher posts involved, 18 of the post-holders are qualified primary teachers and three are second level qualified. These latter posts include the two temporary posts referred to above. At present, three of the primary qualified teachers are on career break and have been replaced by three second level qualified teachers on a temporary basis.
