Question:176 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Finance the effect the abolition of betting duty in Britain will have on betting duty returns here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9064/01]
Written Answers. - Betting Duty.
It is too early to predict what effect, if any, the new regime for betting taxation in Britain will have on betting duty receipts here. This new regime does not come into effect until next year at the earliest. The provisional betting receipts here for January and February 2001 are £7.4 million, an increase of 19.3% on the receipts for the same period in 2000.
