Vol. 534 No. 3

Written Answers. - Casement Aerodrome.

Austin Currie

Question:

104 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Defence the position in relation to compensation for owners of property in the vicinity of Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, County Dublin, who have been injuriously affected by prohibitions and restrictions on development of their property; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10419/01]

My Department submitted a revised safety policy statement on Casement Aerodrome to South Dublin County Council on 26 June 2000 for incorporation into its development plan. This incorporation is still awaited.

The various restrictions on developments in the vicinity of aerodromes are incorporated into the relevant county development plans. The restrictions are to facilitate the continued safe operations of aircraft. The question of compensation does not arise.
