Vol. 536 No. 6

Written Answers. - River Cleaning Works.

Jim Higgins

Question:

161 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Finance when cleaning work will take place on the Clare River, Ballyhaunis which is part of the Corrib catchment upstream from the bridge at Bridge Street, Ballyhaunis as previously promised by the Office of Public Works. [15220/01]

The Office of Public Works scheduled a 400m stretch of the River Clare upstream of the road bridge at Ballyhaunis for cleaning this year. Following consultation with the Western Regional Fisheries Board it was agreed that no works would be carried out until after 1 June. It is intended, therefore, to carry out the cleaning work in June or early July of this year.
