Vol. 536 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Accommodation.

Liam Aylward

Question:

165 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children when approval will issue to the South Eastern Health Board regarding its proposals to convert a ward at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Kilcreene as a step down facility for St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15207/01]

The proposal to refurbish the ward in question is being considered in the context of the measures that might be put in place to increase capacity in the South Eastern Health Board region and will be contingent on the priorities set by the South Eastern Health Board.

My Department is currently in discussion with officials of the South Eastern Health Board on the matter and I have requested the chief executive officer of the board to revert to the Deputy in due course.
