Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Question:

221 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if a school psychology service will be assigned to a school (details supplied) in Dublin 10 and other schools in the Ballyfermot area. [12578/02]

The National Educational Psychological Service Agency (NEPS) has assigned psychologists to all schools in Dublin 10. Sadly, the psychologist assigned to the named school recently died. Psychologists appointed following the recent recruitment competition will take up their posts during the coming months and this will permit NEPS to appoint a replacement psychologist to the school.

In the meantime, the school has been informed that it may use the scheme for commissioning psychological assessments if necessary. A mem ber of the NEPS regional team will also be available to the school if issues of an urgent nature arise.
