Vol. 553 No. 7

Written Answers. - Community Projects.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

266 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has liaised with other Departments over the level of funding to be provided to the Mountwood Fitzgerald Resource Centre; if he will fully honour previous commitments made in meetings with representatives of the centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15048/02]

My Department has indicated that it is prepared to make available funding in the region of €1.1 million towards the provision of a community and childcare facility in Mountwood Fitzgerald Park, Dún Laoghaire. I understand that the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform is also prepared to provide funding of the order of €690,000 to cover child care and crêche facilities, subject to a suitable building proposal being developed.

I understand that, in light of this, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are now re-examining the proposal for a community centre at this location in consultation with ADM and the relevant community group and with a view to submitting a revised proposal for the project for approval by both Departments as soon as possible.
