Question:115 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Defence if US Marines are or were ever trained on the Curragh, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29404/03]
Written Answers. - Army Training Programme.
I am advised by the military authorities that US Marines are not and have never been trained on the Curragh, County Kildare. However, over the past five years, US military personnel have been permitted the use of the firing range at the Curragh on a courtesy basis to undertake the required annual test of their personal service weapons. In this connection, I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 167 on 4 November 2003.
