284 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if a decision to place prefabricated buildings in the grounds of a parish primary school for the purpose of running a crèche is a matter for the school board of management or for his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30167/03]
The position is that if the site is owned by my Department, the decision to place prefabricated buildings on it is a matter for my Department. However, if the site is owned by the patron, it is a matter for the school management and the patron. The management should ensure that the proposed development will not affect the running of the school or be a hindrance to future development. Management should also ensure that the additional building has adequate insurance cover.
