Vol. 642 No. 5

Garda Síochána (Powers of Surveillance) Bill 2007: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide additional powers for the Garda Síochána with respect to surveillance; and to provide for related matters.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time." I am happy to fill the legislative lacuna on the other side of the House if the Government will facilitate it.

There is still too much work required on it.

Question put and agreed to.
