JOINT COMMITTEE ON EUROPEAN AFFAIRS debate -
Tuesday, 6 Nov 2007

Election of Chairman.

Clerk to the Committee

In accordance with Standing Order 90 of Dáil Éireann, the first duty of the joint committee is to elect a Chairman. I ask for nominations.

I nominate Deputy Bernard Durkan. He has served on the joint committee for almost 21 years and held the chairmanship for five. He would make an excellent Chairman.

I second that proposal.

Clerk to the Committee

As there are no other nominations, I deem Deputy Bernard Durkan elected as Chairman and call on him to take the Chair.

Deputy Bernard J. Durkan took the Chair.

I thank members for electing me as Chairman of the Joint Committee on European Affairs.
