JOINT COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS debate -
Thursday, 8 Oct 2009

Expressions of Sympathy.

I am sure members join me in expressing our sympathy and condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Father Aengus Finucane, who died on Tuesday. He was a former chief executive and one of the founders of the Irish NGO Concern. He spent much of his life working in southern Asia and parts of Africa, helping some of the poorest of the poor who would not be alive today without his direct intervention. He insisted on continuing with his work until the end. May he rest in peace. We express our sympathy to his family on behalf of the committee.

The joint committee adjourned at 1 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday 14 October, 2009.
