Business of Joint Committee

Apologies have been received from Deputies Seán Barrett, Seán Ardagh, John Deasy, Noel O'Flynn, Rory O'Hanlon and Alan Shatter and Senators David Norris, Dominic Hannigan, Maurice Cummins, Mark Daly and Ann Ormonde.

We have also received apologies from Deputy Fahey. I was asked to bring them to the committee.

I welcome Deputy Finian McGrath and Senator Joe O'Toole, who have joined members for this meeting.

I remind members and those in the Public Gallery to ensure their mobile telephones and BlackBerrys are switched off completely, as they interfere with the recording equipment even when on silent mode.

The minutes of the last meeting have been circulated. As there are no matters arising, are the minutes agreed? Agreed.

We have one item of correspondence from the Joint Committee on European Scrutiny concerning decisions taken by that committee on 13 July 2010. It is proposed that this be noted. Is that agreed? Agreed.
