Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 15 Oct 1981

Vol. 96 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4: to adjourn the debate on the Second Stage of the Criminal Justice Bill at 4.30 p.m. and to proceed to item No. 4.

Is it proposed to sit next week?

It is not proposed to sit next week.

Do I take it that after a flush of enthusiasm we will have run out of business by next week and that, therefore, we are not proposing to sit?

I do not think that is the reason for not sitting. Item No. 3 is of such great importance that the feeling is that we should postpone the continuation of that debate for two weeks.

Am I to take it that the Seanad has run out of all alternative business and that there is nothing to occupy us next week?

The Chair would remind the Senator that on the Order of Business Senators speak only once.

When is it proposed that the Seanad will meet again?

I must apologise to the House for anticipating that there would not be any other remarks on the Order of Business. It is proposed to sit on Thursday, 29 October.

Order of Business agreed to.
