As an academic from another institution may I simply say: "go n-eirí an bóthar libh" to the two new universities. I have kept the Minister sufficiently long. My long speech on Second Stage almost wore out her limitless patience.

Yes indeed, the Minister has been most helpful and forthcoming. However, I should not like the occasion to pass without wishing both new universities well. I hope that at some stage in the not too distant future all six of us here will be given an opportunity of seeking the right to represent the graduates of those two new universities.

Now that we have processed the Bill may I make the point that withdrawal of my amendment was because of the case presented by the Minister. In no way do I yield to the point that the convenience of another House should be served by this House. That is a very important principle to retain.
I support Senator Brendan Ryan in his final words of congratulation to the two new universities. I, too, wish them very well indeed.
