Vol. 289 No. 10

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters: Senators Aisling Dolan and Eugene Murphy - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the payment of the pandemic special recognition payment to hospital contract cleaners and caterers.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the need for an annual meningitis awareness campaign, and the funding of organisations that support bereaved families. Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to provide an update on the securing of an end user for the IDA advance technology building at Knockaconny, County Monaghan. Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on the future of the regional uplift for the film, television and animation production initiative. Senator Jerry Buttimer - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the provision of home school liaison officers for special schools. Senator Victor Boyhan - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on Dublin Bus services, particularly in relation to waiting times and cancellation of buses on the Lucan service, and the need for the recruitment of additional bus drivers. Senator Micheál Carrigy - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on funding for the N4 Mullingar to Rooskey road project to bring it to full planning permission stage. Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the process that enables the National Transport Authority to meet with public representatives to discuss publicly funded transport services.

Senator John McGahon - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to consider direct air capture technology as a means of reaching 2030 and 2050 climate targets.

Senator Garret Ahearn - The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to provide an update on the proposed development of Kickham Barracks, Clonmel, as a dual campus of education between Tipperary Education and Training Board and the Technological University of the Shannon.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the changes to the Burren programme for farmers which will result in a potential loss of income and decrease in incentives for conservation measures.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Aisling Dolan and Eugene Murphy, who are sharing their time, Seán Kyne, Robbie Gallagher and Malcolm Byrne and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Boyhan on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
