185. Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Finance the total costs incurred by the State in its appeal of the European Commission’s ruling in the company State aid case (details supplied); the total cost of managing the escrow account; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The costs to the State for the Apple case to summer 2024 are approximately €10.3 million of which approximately €4.2 million relates to the recovery process. These fees have been paid by various State entities over the course of the case. It is not possible to estimate the final costs of the case at this time.

I would also note that fees paid to investment management and custodian fees are an expense of the Escrow Fund and are therefore not included in the figure above. These expenses are published in the financial accounts of the Escrow Fund.
