Written answers

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) carries out investigations completely independently of the Minister. The Minister has no role or influence in any investigation being carried out and does not interfere in any way.

Officials in my Department contacted the HSA regarding this particular matter and they advised they have commenced a criminal investigation into the incident which occurred on a construction site on the 20th May 2024 involving a teleporter. The HSA are prohibited from disclosing any information in respect of an ongoing criminal investigation.

The HSA will always endeavour to carry out an investigation in a timely and efficient manner, the length of an investigation will be determined by the circumstances and complexity of factors that may have contributed to the incident.
