Deputy George Lawlor asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if his Department has received notification of a collective redundancy in a company (details supplied); if he will publish a list of companies that have notified his Department of a collective redundancy in 2024 and to date in 2025; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe rules governing collective redundancies are set out in the Protection of Employment Act 1977, as amended. Collective redundancies arise where, during any period of 30 consecutive days, the employees being made redundant are:
• 5 employees where 21-49 are employed,
• 10 employees where 50-99 are employed,
• 10% of the employees where 100-299 are employed,
• 30 employees where 300 or more are employed.
Section 12 of the Act provides that employers proposing a collective redundancy must notify the Minister of the proposed collective redundancy at least 30 days before the first dismissal takes effect. I received a notification from the company referenced in your question on 4 February 2025.
A list of all the companies that have submitted collective redundancy notifications to my Department in 2024 and 2025 is provided below. The 2025 table contains notifications received to end-January only as quality assurance processes on the data received after this date are ongoing.
