Deputy Paul Lawless asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if he will provide an update on the proposed 4% pension increase for members of the ESB defined benefit pension scheme, including whether the increase has been implemented; if not, the reasons for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerMinisterial consent, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, was issued in relation to the 4% increase, requested in 2023, on 01 February 2024, with effect from 01 January 2024.
With regards to a separate 0.7% increase, requested in 2024, Ministerial consent, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, was issued on 07 March 2025 with effect from 01 January 2025.
