Deputy Sinéad Gibney asked the Minister for Finance if all IT systems used by his Department can utilise the síneadh fada; where this is not the case, to provide the list of systems which do not accept or facilitate the use of the fada, in tabular form; the steps being taken to address this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI wish to advise the Deputy that ICT services for my department are provided by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) under the Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform. Officials have confirmed that all of the IT systems provided by the OGCIO have been made capable of utilising the síneadh fada as required.
I am advised by my officials that the following IT systems, used by my department cannot utilise the síneadh fada:
• IT system
• Club Travel System
The Club Travel System is an external ICT travel booking system. It cannot accept the síneadh fada due to the transfer of data from its system to the international travel system.
I can confirm for the Deputy that my department is committed to providing quality services in Irish and/or bilingually to its customers.
