Deputy Patricia Ryan asked the Minister for Health the steps that can be taken to address the issue where private nursing home residents do not have access to transport to attend out-patient appointments and/or small day-ward procedures, meaning they have to use taxis and/or ambulances (if necessary) at great personal expense (approximately €800 per case), such expenses are not covered by the Fair Deal Scheme funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
