Deputy Joe Carey asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the rationale behind the wage subsidy scheme having an entry point of a minimum of 21 hours' work per week; if consideration was given to those persons with a disability who are not in a position to work the minimum number of hours per week but could work for a shorter period in a week; if there has been exceptions in the administration of the scheme to allow a person to work for less than 21 hours per week and the employer being eligible to avail of the wage subsidy scheme; if the scheme will be reviewed to enable those who are not in a position to work the minimum 21 hours to do so on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with the local Intreo office and employer; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
