[Meeting 24 January 2019] Notes on: 1) the allocation of places on school buses, the non-usage of allocated seats and the issue of children not being able to get seats on buses where there are emply but allocated seats 2) the number of cases taken against Bus Eireann by children and their families, information of the legal costs associated with these cases and whether they are handled inhouse, by a legal firm or the State Claims Agency 3)The maximum travelling and waiting times and distances for children 4) the Special Transport Grant includin:g details in the maximum and minimum and average grant levels available 5) The closing balance of the Reserve was €11.2m as stated in the C&AG Report. It has reduced to €6.7m in 2018. What is the itemised expenditure on the Reserve that brought about this reduction? 6) Non recurrent charges applied by the Bus Eireann against the unused surplus and accepted by the Department since 2011 included €3.4m as a "contribution to capital investment". What is the breakdown of this figure? 7) Are there regional cost differences in regard to route servicing? What is the most expensive and the least efficient area? Can Bus Eireann provide information on the variations without naming the regions?
