The role of the Seanad Select Committee on Scrutiny of EU-related Statutory Instruments is to examine proposals for statutory instruments, made under section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972, which transpose EU Directives into Irish law. Its orders of reference may be found here.
Following examination of a draft statutory instrument, the Committee may decide to refer it to the relevant sectoral joint committee for more detailed scrutiny.
