This is the first meeting of the Committee on Housing and Homelessness. No apologies have been received. The first item on the agenda is the election of a Chairman. I must now ask for nominations for that position.
Election of Chairman
Clerk to the Committee
I nominate Deputy John Curran from the constituency of Dublin Mid-West as Chairman of the committee.
I second that proposal.
On behalf of Sinn Féin, I nominate Deputy Eoin Ó Broin for the position of Chairman. This will be a very good committee which, I hope, will come up with a lot of solutions to the housing crisis. It is a cross-party committee, which is welcome. Deputy Eoin Ó Broin would be an excellent Chairman.
I second Deputy Ó Broin's nomination.
Clerk to the Committee
There being more than one nomination, the questions will now be put in the order in which each nomination was received. I will put the first question: "That Deputy John Curran be elected Chairman of the committee."
Question put:
