To ask the Minister for Education whether he is aware that the Intermediate School, Killorglin, has been under military occupation since August last; whether, as a consequence, the staff of the school have since been disemployed, and have been unable to secure employment; and whether, since it would be impossible now to open the school, assuming it were evacuated by the military, he will consider whether compensation equivalent to a year's normal salary ought not to be paid by the Ministry to each member of the staff affected.

Compensation in this case would not be payable out of funds voted for education or otherwise, under the existing law, and the matter would properly arise when a Bill dealing with compensation is brought forward.
