Vol. 2 No. 35

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - MEATH PRISONER'S CASE.

To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether he is aware that Anthony Reilly, Cloghmacoo, was arrested for, as alleged, "being an accessory to the sending of a threatening letter"; whether Reilly was tried on this charge before a Special Court, in Ceannanus Mor, Mr. M. J. Hannon, Justice, adjudicating, on December 20th last; whether the Justice refused informations in Reilly's case, on the ground that a prima facie case had not been established; whether a man named John Anderson was sent forward for trial by the Justice, and the Justice undertook to endorse a warrant for Anderson's release if bail were forthcoming inside a week; whether, on the other hand, Reilly is still detained in custody in Navan; and to ask what is the nature of the charge for which Reilly is detained and whether he is not now entitled to be released.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

The only information I have in this matter at present is to the effect that the man in question is in Military custody at Navan. I am making further inquiries and am communicating with the Minister for Defence.
