Vol. 2 No. 43

DAIL IN COMMITTEE. - DAIL RESUMES.

When does the Minister propose to take the Report Stage of this Bill?

I am afraid I will have to ask the Dáil to sit on Monday and Tuesday, and if these days are not convenient, on Tuesday and Wednesday. In that case, I propose to take the Report Stage next week. If there was any danger or likelihood of the Dáil not meeting on these days, we would have to meet on Saturday. We certainly want two extra days.

I think Monday would be more convenient than Saturday.

Does the President know whether the Seanad will be likely to have anything to send down to us if we waited until Monday. We have sent them up some Bills, and it is pretty clear they cannot be back to us by Saturday, but if we were to wait until Monday we might have them back. If they were to meet on Friday, we might be able to wind up and put through some of those rather urgent Bills that went through all their stages in the Dáil.

The Criminal and Malicious Injuries Bill, as amended in Committee, will not be in the hands of the Deputies to-morrow.

I think we ought to meet on Monday and Tuesday. The Budget is the principal business.
