CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. - LOANS FOR LABOURERS' COTTAGES.

To ask the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position in regard to the granting of loans necessary to build labourers' cottages, to replace the insanitary condemned houses in the area under the governance of the Dublin County Council? And in particular to ask if his attention has been drawn to the last scheme sanctioned under the Labourers Act—known as Scheme 5— which was partly carried out, and suspended by reason of the European War; and if, having regard to the fact that the sites under the scheme have been paid for, and to the further fact that the scheme was at that time approved of to replace condemned houses, he will inquire into the possibility of having this scheme proceeded with at the earliest moment?

The uncompleted scheme to which the question refers is presumably one adopted by the North Dublin Rural District Council under the Labourers Acts, and in respect of which the British Government had suspended the issue of loans during the European War.

The matter has been engaging attention, and the Ministry hopes to be in a position to have an advance made in this case.
