Vol. 3 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' MOTOR CAR.

asked the Minister for Defence if a Ford motor car, the property of Mr. William Donnelan, Commercial Traveller, Tuam, was commandeered by National troops on the 6th April, at Ballina; can he say if this car has yet been returned by the military; and in view of the great inconvenience caused to commercial travellers by the seizure of cars which are necessary for the transaction of their ordinary business, will he give instructions that such cars will not be commandeered except in cases of absolute necessity, and when no other cars are available.

I am enquiring into the alleged commandeering of Mr. Donnelan's motor car. There are existing instructions that cars are not to be taken, except in very special and urgent circumstances.
