Vol. 3 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - A WESTMEATH PRISONER.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that James Kelly, Mount Temple, Moate, was arrested by National Troops, without charge or trial being preferred against him, and detained in Custume Barracks, Athlone, nearly nine months ago; whether the prisoner is in delicate health and is prepared to sign the recognised form of undertaking; and whether, in view of this, the Minister will order his release, or, alternatively, bring him to trial?

James Kelly was arrested on the 22nd October last. He has signed the usual form of undertaking, but it is not considered advisable to sanction his release and it is not the present intention to put him on trial.
