Vol. 5 No. 8

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - TIPPERARY SHOPKEEPER'S COMPENSATION.

asked the Minister for Home Affairs when will the amount of the decree for £1,400 and costs, granted to Patrick Kiely, of Kilmoyler, Cahir, at Tipperary Sessions, on the 22nd June, 1920, as compensation for the partial destruction of his shop, shed, and stock in trade, be made available; and whether, in view of the well-known fact that Mr. Kiely suffered this loss owing to his national sentiments, and urgently needs the money, steps will be taken to facilitate the payment of the compensation at an early date.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

As the decree to which the Deputy refers was not defended by the County Council in the County Court it must be the subject of review by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission. An award by the Commission in substitution for the decree has not yet been notified to the Ministry of Finance, and the question of payment does not therefore arise.
