Vol. 5 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IRISH MERCANTILE FLAG.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any decision has been taken, as the result of the steps being taken to this end (as intimated in an answer made on his behalf on the 10th of May last), to establish an Irish mercantile flag; whether any Bill has been drafted to give statutory recognition to such a flag; and, if so, when this Bill may be expected to be brought before the Oireachtas.

I have nothing at present to add to the answer given on this matter on the 10th of May last.

Would the Minister, when he is designing the mercantile flag, design a war flag?

That is a different matter.

Arising out of the Minister's answer, I would like to know if the assurance then given, which was tantamount to a pledge, still remains an assurance that steps had been taken to establish an Irish mercantile flag?
