Vol. 6 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MANUFACTURE OF MATCHES.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether a licence is required for the manufacture of matches, if he will state the amount of duty paid on home manufactured matches and the amount paid on foreign matches for the year ending 1923.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second and third parts of the question, the figures of duty for the complete year ended 31st December, 1923, are not available, but the amounts of duty received in the nine months ended 31st December, 1923, on home manufactured matches and on foreign manufactured matches are, in the first case, £77,477, and in the second £23,194.
