Vol. 6 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIMS FOR SEIZED MOTOR CARS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether any machinery has been set up to deal with claims of persons whose motor cars were seized by British Military in 1920-21 where such claims have been rejected by the Shaw Commission as not coming within their jurisdiction, and, if so, what procedure should be adopted by such persons; and if he will state whether a claim which was lodged with the Shaw Commission within the twelve months period and subsequently, rejected will be accepted by the British authorities after the period of twelve months has expired?

Negotiations are still proceeding with the British Government on the question of the machinery to be established for dealing with claims such as those to which the Deputy refers. Ample notice will be given of the procedure to be followed. I am not aware of any time limit being imposed in regard to claims such as that mentioned by the Deputy.
