WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CLAIMS OF COUNTY SLIGO SOLDIERS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Messrs. P. Golden (late 20266), P. Milmoe (late 20278), W. Shannon (late 20259), M. Cawley (late 20295), B.Milmoe (late 09957), J. Price (late 20233), F. Brady (late 23173), J. Hannon (late 47163), M. Mulligan (late 20277), and T.J. O'Connor (late 56282), all formerly of the 22nd Infantry Battalion, and residing at Ballymote, Co. Sligo, are unable to obtain their back pay or unemployment benefits, and whether he will endeavour to expedite these payments.

The claims for arrears of pay submitted by Messrs. Milmoe, Price and O'Connor will be settled very shortly. The other claims are under investigation, and will be disposed of as quickly as possible.

I understand that the question of Unemployment Insurance Benefit is receiving the attention of the Minister for Industry and Commerce.
