Vol. 6 No. 24

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - LEIX ACCOUNTS.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received repeated applications from Patrick Gorman, bootmaker, Chapel Street, Rathdowney, Leix, for payment of an account of £2 10s. 6d., representing charges for work done for members of the National Army stationed at the Bank, Rathdowney, in June, 1922, and if he will expedite payment of the amount due.

No claim has been received at Headquarters from Mr. Gorman. Enquiries are now, however, being made with a view to early settlement of any outstanding account.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received several applications from James Ryan, The Square, Rathdowney, Leix, for payment of an amount of £21 5s. 10d., representing charges for goods supplied to the local garrison of the National Army over twelve months ago, and if he can now state when he will be in a position to pay the amount due.

Of the amount of £21 5s. 10d referred to, a cheque for £1 11s. 6d. was issued on the 18th October last, but on inquiry it is found that the cheque was not presented to the Bank. This cheque is being cancelled, and, pending investigation, a cheque for the balance of the account was issued yesterday.
