Vol. 6 No. 24

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RECONSTRUCTION WORK IN CO. CORK.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received a resolution from the Cork County Council appealing for a grant for reconstruction work in Castletown Bere and Allihies districts, Co. Cork, and whether he is aware that the roads from Allihies Mines and Castletown Bere are in a very bad and dangerous condition and interfere seriously with the development and output of the mines, and whether, in view of the fact that the Castletown Bere portion of the Dáil distress grant was not spent and reverted to the Ministry of Finance, he will consider the case of Castletown Bere and Allihies for a special grant.

I have received representations and have had this matter under consideration. The resolution referred to does not appear to have been brought to my notice, and the Cork County Council are being addressed concerning it. On learning the proposals of the Council the representations of the Deputy will receive further attention.
