Vol. 6 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THE HORSEPOOL, CLONES.

PÁDRAIG O DUBHTHAIGH

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Horsepool, Newtownbutler Road, Clones, was condemned by the Medical Officer of Health over two years ago, and that nothing has been done to do away with the nuisance, though diphtheria and other diseases attributed to the above cause are rampant in the district.

This matter was reported by the Medical Officer of Health to the Clones Urban and Rural District Councils in 1922, but remedial action has been delayed owing to a dispute as to the amount to be contributed by the two Councils, as the pool is situate on the actual boundary line between the districts. I am informed that there are no infectious diseases rampant in the neighbourhood. A mild epidemic of influenza is reported, which can in no way be attributed to the cause mentioned.
