Vol. 6 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - APPOINTMENT OF RATE COLLECTORS IN TIRCONAILL.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider, in the interests of economy and the present unsatisfactory condition of the county's finances, the advisability and expediency of deferring sanction to the recent appointments of rate collectors by the Tirconaill County Council till such period as the proposed Local Government Bill become law.

Temporary arrangements for the collection of outstanding rates in Tirconaill must be made, but I do not propose to agree to any new permanent appointments of Rate Collectors at present.

Will the Minister say when it is intended to introduce this proposed Local Government Bill?

I could not state definitely.

Will the Minister state approximately?

I would say sometime before Easter.
