Vol. 6 No. 35

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM BY DEAD SOLDIER'S MOTHER.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Volunteer John Carey, attached to the Dublin Guards stationed at Croom, lost his life while discharging his duty at Dromless Beg, Granagh, on December 8th, 1922; whether his mother's claim for a pension or gratuity has been considered, and, if so, with what result, and, if not, whether he will have the matter attended to immediately, in view of the destitute condition of the applicant.

The circumstances in which Volunteer Carey lost his life required investigation, but the necessary enquiries are not yet completed. Every effort is being made to expedite the consideration of the case.
