Vol. 6 No. 35

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CO. TIPPERARY PRISONER'S DETENTION.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Defence if he is now prepared to order the release of James Hayes, of Galteemore, Aherlow, Co. Tipperary, who has been held in custody since April, 1923, and, if not, whether he will indicate the reason for his detention.

James Hayes is in custody on suspicion of being concerned in very grave offences against the rights of property. These suspicious are so strong that his release cannot be considered at present. If evidence to support the charges against him can be obtained, he will be immediately brought to trial.
