Vol. 6 No. 35

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT—GRANGE, LIMERICK.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Daniel O'Shaughnessy, of Grange, Co. Limerick, who applied for unemployment benefit on 20th September, 1923, and received the sum of £2 12s. on December 24th, 1923, has from that date received nothing further; whether this case will be reconsidered, and if he will say why benefit was discontinued in this case.

Daniel O'Shaughnessy made a claim to unemployment benefit on the 20th September, 1923, and gave proof of unemployment for 18 days in respect of this period of unemployment. He was paid the maximum amount of benefit that could be paid. He made no further claim to benefit nor otherwise gave any indication that he was unemployed until the 3rd March last, when he lodged a further claim. Payment of benefit for 50 days has been authorised on this claim, subject to proof of unemployment, but no payment has yet been made because the applicant has not given evidence of unemployment in accordance with the requirements of Regulations on the subject. Payment will be made as soon as the applicant furnishes the Local Officer with the required certificates of unemployment.
