Vol. 7 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DEPENDENTS' ALLOWANCE (CO. MAYO).

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Bridget Gurren, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo, mother of Volunteer M. Gurren, No. 55786, has received no dependents' allowance in respect of her son, who was her sole support, and who served in the Army for two years during the late hostilities, and if he will issue instructions to have her case inquired into.

The claim of Mrs. Gurren, who was only partially dependent on her son, was disallowed after due investigation on the ground that the extent of her dependence on him prior to his enlistment was less than the minimum required by regulations, namely, 12s. per week, before an allowance might be issued. Mrs. Gurren was informed accordingly on the 11th February last.
