Vol. 7 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WEXFORD PENSION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence if application for a pension has been made by Private John Walsh, 14 Distillery Road, Wexford (Ref. No. 55609), if he is aware that in consequence of wounds received in July, 1922, this man is almost a cripple and unable to work, and whether he will take steps to expedite settlement in this case.

A claim for pension has been received from Mr. Walsh, who served in the Army up to the 20th November last. Steps are being taken to expedite a decision on his claim. As I mentioned the other day there are a large number of these claims at present before the Committee; something like 1,800.

As this man and his family are in receipt of outdoor relief, will the President undertake to have this matter dealt with as soon as possible?

I will try to have that done.
