Vol. 7 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NAAS WOMAN'S ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the allowance of 7s. weekly, granted to Mrs. Sarah Smyth, Swordlestown, Naas, Co. Kildare, in respect of the shooting of her son, Francis Crampton, a soldier of the National Army, by Irregulars, at Sallins Station, in November, 1922, has been stopped, and whether he will see that this woman, who is very poor, gets this money renewed, or a lump sum as a final settlement.

An allowance was issued to Mrs. Smith up to the end of March last. Her claim for compensation under the "Army Pensions Act" is about to be decided. I should say, as I said before, that a very large number of these claims are in, and may take a little time.
