Vol. 7 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GLENGARRIFFE COMPENSATION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that a claim for compensation made by Timothy Collins, Hollyhill, Glengarriffe, Co. Cork, in respect of the kidnapping and murder of his son on the 22nd of September, 1922, was rejected; whether the victim was employed at the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriffe, and contributed ten shillings per week to his parents' support, and whether the case will be reconsidered with a view to giving Collins some compensation.

This case was fully and carefully investigated by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee, who considered that the applicant was not dependent upon the deceased. The application was, therefore, refused. I see no reason why the case should be reopened.
