Vol. 7 No. 9

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - NENAGH DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that dependent's allowance has not been paid to Mrs. Mary Maher, Monroe, Newtown, Nenagh, wife of Private James Maher, 16740, although she has been married since January 17th, 1924, and whether he will have this case considered with a view to payment.

Under present regulations (Defence Order No. 30) marriage allowance is not issuable in the cases of soldiers who marry after the 8th October last. The revision of those regulations is about to be considered. Pending the issue of new regulations I regret that it is not practicable to grant an allowance to Mrs. Maher.
